I have met so many remarkable and inspiring colleagues through my years with ELAC that it never occurred to me that I would be singled out to be so honoured. I could actually write pages about my fondest moments with ELAC!
It is worth getting involved
Any time I have stepped up and become involved with a committee or taken a proffered opportunity, whether through ELAC or my school, I've been able to have experiences that have increased my teaching skills and my personal growth, creating memorable moments.
These are numerous both large and small. Those with students - such as being given a very meaningful gift; the students who've returned to say thank-you; seeing the successes that my students have had; or having a student make a connection on a school trip with something that had been covered in class. Those with ELA colleagues - when a coffee talk is the root of an interesting new lesson; being able to work out a classroom frustration with conversation and advice; but most especially being involved with a number of the ELAC conferences. I have learned from so many people and have had so many opportunities, and each just adds to the next! My fondest moments? Working with my mentors and mentees.
